What Are Occupational Therapists?

Occupational Therapists (OT) Are Health Professionals Who Enable People To Overcome Limitations They May Experience In Their Daily Occupations.

A State Registration Board Governs Occupational Therapy Practice In WA And Will Be Governed Nationally In July 2012. Occupational Therapists In Western Australia Are Currently Required To Complete A Minimum Of Four-Year Science Degree, Including 1000 Hours Practical Experience.

What Is Soft Tissue?

Soft Tissue Is A Collective Term For Muscles, Tendons, Fascia And Ligaments.

The Aim Of These Techniques Is To Enhance The Spinal Muscular System In Order To Influence Not Only Symptoms But To Effectively Deal With The Cause/S Of Dysfunction.

Client Education Is Also Utilized To Empower The Client In Maximizing Their Own Health Outcomes And Quality Of Life. Some Of This May Include Strengthening And Stretching Programs, Lifestyle Changes (Eg. Weight Loss, Nutrition, Emotional Influences) And Work Environment Changes.

  • Services Are Available To People Of All Ages.
  • Rebates Are Claimable For OT Services From All Private Health Insurance Funds. The Amount Of Rebate Will Vary Depending On The Insurer And The Individual’s Level Of Cover.
  • You Do Not Need A Referral From Any Other Practitioner To See An Occupational Therapist Privately.
  • Services Can Also Be Provided For People With Existing Worker’s Compensation And Motor Vehicle Accident Claims, Department Of Veteran Affairs And Enhanced Primary Care Programs But This Is Only With A Referral From A GP Or Medical Specialist.
